Privacy

TL;DR: Simpliq collects only anonymous, aggregate usage stats to improve the extension. No personal info is collected, and data is never used to track individuals.

What is collected?	Anonymous extension usage events (install, open settings, start/finish summary, error category, curiosity clicks). No personal information, usernames, or email addresses ever logged.
How are IDs handled?	A random UUID is generated and stored locally for each day (rotates every 24 hours). YouTube™ video IDs are logged for analytics/debugging, never combined with UUIDs or user-identifiable info.
What data fields are logged?	Session/user events: daily UUID, event type (e.g. “summary_start”), UTC date, extension version, error category/non-ID props. Video events: YouTube™ video ID, event type (e.g. “summary_failed”), UTC date, extension version, error category/non-ID props.
Where and how is data transmitted and stored?	All data is sent over a secure HTTPS connection. Raw logs are held ≤ 7 days in an access-controlled bucket (Europe-West); used only for debugging and weekly roll-ups. Aggregated usage stats (fully anonymized) are retained indefinitely for analytics and product improvement. Servers sit behind a firewall; only the lead developer can access the data.
Retention and deletion	Your daily UUID expires after 24 hours. After that point no log row can be linked back to you. Raw logs are automatically deleted once they are 7 days old. Aggregates contain no identifiers; uninstalling the extension stops all future collection.
Is data shared?	No. We never sell or share raw or aggregated telemetry with any third party.
Tracking?	No persistent tracking, cookies, fingerprinting, or third-party tracking. UUIDs rotate daily and are never combined with video IDs.
Opt out?	Telemetry is anonymized and required for product assessment. Uninstalling the extension stops all collection.
ChatGPT data	ChatGPT opens in your browser using your own account. Simpliq never sees your prompts, completions, or chat data.
